So Thanksgiving was a HUGE success! We handed out 30 platters of Thanksgiving dinner along with coffee, cocoa and cider, pumpkin pie and muffins from 12-3 yesterday, and the experience was amazing! Thank you to Richard and Connie Whitford and their Grace Group Bible Study for the food donations that allowed this to happen!

We are shooting for a Christmas goal of 100 platters and at least 75 drawstring bags of personal hygiene products. If you know any way of getting this out to someone in the news business, that would be amazing!

We need food donations: turkeys, hams, canned sweet potatoes, potatoes, canned corn, cranberries, brown sugar, muffin mixes, pies, stuffing mix. These will be used to make the platters!

Also needed are food items for the drawstring bags: canned goods, especially with pull tabs, such as soups and raviolis, water bottles, tuna, cereal bars, fruit snacks, raisins, jerky, trail mix.

Non-food items: gift cards, especially for local eateries, sanitary wipes, tissues, pads, tampons, toothbrushes, toothpaste, band-aids, chap stick, combs, mints, gum, cough drops, gloves, hats, scarfs, reusable drink bottles, deodorants, men and women, soaps, rags, shampoos.

We'd also like to make some children's bags.

Needed: Small stuffed animals, Crayons and coloring books, kids gloves, hats, and scarfs, kids underwear, Diapers, baby wipes, formula/baby food.

Travel size items would be best but I can always buy the small bottle to fill.

Please check your house to see if you have any thing that may help. Every thing counts!

Also accepting clothes and shoes donations. Blankets! Will be putting these in size appropriate boxes to give away free.

Please help us to make this happen!

Also needed (yeah I'm asking a lot but God sees us all and if you don't believe in God, then you'll get good karma points!) : volunteers!!! If you would like to help in any way, especially with the cooking, packaging, and handing out, please let me know! We currently have 2 vehicles in which to hold things but could really use another one we can keep items in! Also, Reading has a high Hispanic population. We were unable to communicate with some of the people who came to us, so having someone there who speaks Spanish well would be a true blessing!

If you would like to donate or have any questions, please feel free to contact us:

Amy Spitler here on facebook or text or call at 484-538-0624.

Katie Spitler on facebook.

Donations can be dropped off at our house at 1961 Woodvale Avenue, where we have some boxes for you to do a porch drop off, or I can do pick ups! Please be assured that every donation will go back into our community on Christmas day, when we will again be doing 100 platters of Christmas dinner, free to anyone in need, as well as handing out care packages to the homeless and less fortunate.

Please help to make this happen!!! If you have nothing to give, that's okay too, just SHARE SHARE SHARE this post! We told those who came for Thanksgiving dinner that we will be at 8th and Penn again on Christmas Day with food and care packages and they promised to spread the word to others without a warm home to celebrate the holidays in so we are expecting a decent turn out. Please help make this happen! We are giving our time, our energy into cooking and putting together the care packages, and we will be filling in whatever donations are still needed by Christmas, but I am also a mother of 7 and can't do this on my own... I NEED your help! Please feel free to send this information to your church, school, work associates, friends and family! We will be working with The Bridge church in Shillington to try to raise donations. long sleeve wedding dresses for sale

Money donations in any form will also be accepted, although having actual items is preferred only so you can be assured your donations are going to our city's less fortunate!!

Thank you, and God Bless!!!!
